“Surface Prowler™” wire brush assembly procedures
1. CAUTION! Gear case is “HOT” after operation. Allow gear case to cool down prior to disassembly of the wire brush unit. 2. Read, understand and use all procedures and recommendations within the RedMax, Sweeper RMSZ2500, Owner/Operator Manual prior to running. 3. Safety goggles & hearing protection is required when operating the Sweeper with any and all attachments. 4. WARNING! Wire brush assembly may throw objects up to 50 feet away. Ensure area is clean ahead and proper eye and ear protection is being used. 5. Wear respiratory protection to avoid airborne material when present. Tools Required: Small hammer 7/16“ open end wrench or 7/16“ socket. 7/32“ or 1/4“ diameter punch to set roll pin. Installation Procedure: NOTE: “LEFT and RIGHT hand threaded parts are included: IMPORTANT! There is a left hand threaded shaft adapter and a right hand threaded shaft adapter. It is critical that the left hand threaded and the right hand threaded adapters are installed on the proper side of the gear case, and that the proper Left and Right hand threaded bolts are used. 1. Determine Left side and Right side of gear case unit (see illustration). 2. Install left hand threaded shaft adapter (item 2) onto the left end of the Sweeper gear case output shaft. Line up the ¼” diameter hole in the shaft to the adapter. Tap the roll pin (item 7) through the adapter and into the gear case shaft using a small hammer. Then use the 7/32“ or 1/4“ diameter punch to set the pin into the shaft. The roll pin must not protrude into the adapter outer perimeter. 3. Install right hand threaded shaft adapter (item 3) onto the right end of the Sweeper gear case output shaft. 4. Wire brushes (item 1) come with 1/10” thick spacers. These spacers are installed onto the adapter before the wire wheel is installed. The spacers minimize possibility of wire impact with gear case components. 5. Install spacer (item 10), then install wire wheel (item 1) and install end caps (item 4) onto each adapter. 6. Install washers (item 6) onto one left hand threaded 1 ¼” long by 1/4“ diameter bolt (item 8) and one right hand threaded 1 ¼” long by 1/4“ diameter bolt (item 9). 7. Install the black, “left hand” threaded bolt on the left side of the gear case using a 7/16“ open end wrench or 7/16“ socket. (Maximum torque is 60 in.lbs.)8. Install the black, “left hand” threaded bolt on the left side of the gear case using a 7/16“ open end wrench or 7/16“ socket. (Maximum torque is 60 in.lbs.)
